Training arrangements and presentation night info

E-mail Print PDF

All managers, players and parents please note that due to the over running season, with many age groups now having to play fixtures well into April the club has taken the decision to extend the hire of training facilities. At the moment final training sessions on the STP will take place 25th / 26th March. We will continue to review this as the season progresses.

This extended playing season has also impacted upon our traditional dates for the presentation nights. These have normally been held throughout April but again most teams will still be playing fixtures at this time. Indeed the U11,s and U12,s remain in their respective cup competitions and these games will not take place untill May. The club is considering all the options but at the moment late May / early June looks to be the most likely dates for this years events.

The committee would welcome any suggestions for locations as there is a certain level of concern about last years venue.

John Welsh - on behalf of the Committee

Sheffield League Update

E-mail Print PDF

Sheffield Junior League

Following Tuesday nights Sheffield league meeting all cup/trophy competitions have been suspended until 2nd May with the league end date being extended upto and including the 25th April. Please find below full details of the leagues revised schedule:

The Plan Of Action

From Tuesday 19th January 2010 we have suspended our own League Cup/Trophy Competition, except for the under 9 age-group (they are currently a round behind). This allows all teams to play the scheduled League fixture from then on. Note exception is the U13 and U16 teams involved in the County Cup, as the County Cup takes priority over the League.

Sheffield Park Pitches will be available up to and including the 25th April 2010 – this gives clubs an extra 3 weeks. Therefore this date will be the cut-off date for the League fixtures. This gives clubs 3 extra Sundays, plus the evenings will be lighter to allow some midweek games to take place. The League season will finish on the 25th April 2010.

The Under 13's (Sunday 28th February 2010) and Under 16's (Sunday 11th April) not involved in the County Cup final can now play League fixtures on these dates.
CUP/TROPHY:

The Cup/Trophy competition will then commence again on May 2nd (QF), May 9th (Semi -Final), and May 16th Final. Clubs with private grounds are asked to contact the League, if they can host the matches. This could be a good little money earner for host clubs, as they could put on food and do raffles etc.

Note: You can play the quarter final fixture before May 2nd provided it does not impede on both teams completing their season. Some teams in the U10 to U16 age groups appear to be a round behind in the Cup/Trophy Competitions and have not yet got to quarter final stage. These games need to be played before the quarter final stage or if they have been played can they email me the result to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it If any team will have problems playing on their own grounds on the 2nd May then they need to make alternate arrangements to find a home ground. If this is going to be a problem then we as a League might have to look at neutral venues. They will need to let the League know ASAP if they won't be able to find somewhere to play.
